QUESTIONNAIRE:

What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?

Family is a central part to Euphie's life, to the point that it is both her source of strength and greatest weakness. Her family is at best fundamentally flawed and at worst outright corrupt, but in this one area Euphie has blinders on and cannot see past the way her siblings appear to her. She believes in them and in their goodness, and because of that she is unable or unwilling to grasp the full scope of their cruelties. She loves each of them deeply for who (she thinks) they are, and she longs for the simpler times of her childhood when they were all able to be together without the demands of their status within the royal family.

Euphie has had very little exposure to people outside of her family in any intimate capacity, but when given the opportunity for friends she cares for them with similar fierceness, loyal and protective to the extent of her capacity. Ultimately, family is anyone around her who allows her to grow close to them, who shares in her ideals and dreams.

How important is loyalty to you? What does it take to earn your loyalty? What extents are you willing to go through to maintain loyalty, and respect the loyalty others might have invested in you?

What others might call loyalty to Euphie is simply decency, and for that reason she is staunch and steadfast. She is fairly indiscriminate about it because she believes in the fundamental goodness of people, and it can only lost through causing active and sustained harm to others. Even then, it can be regained as Euphie does not believe in lost causes and does not accept that anyone is ever beyond redemption. Even when her knight left her service, she was able to win him back and never questioned his devotion thereafter. After learning one of her brothers was effectively a terrorist, she believed in his intentions and kept his secrets while working to convince him to help her change the system from within.

If asked directly, she would say that loyalty is a flawed concept the doesn't subscribe to, that devotion should be freely but not blindly given. She will defend and support those around her until give her substantial cause to pull back.

How do you define "failure"? How do you deal with the consequences of failure, from light to severe?

Euphie does not believe in personal failure. It's not that she thinks she or anyone else is above it, merely that there is always more work to be done and there is no point at which something is past salvaging. Even if a task before her has failed to the point it in of itself can no longer be resolved, she is able to pull back to a larger picture and re-orient. She does not and cannot afford to be bogged down by the things she does not succeed at, as she is determined to focus her time and energy on what she can still do. She is not one to feel sorry for herself, and she feels similarly about the efforts of others. She does not judge anyone for what they are unable to do, instead encouraging them to try again or to try another path.

Life is not pass/fail. There is always more work to be done, and every inch of progress is an accomplishment.

An enemy of your faction has asked for a meeting, proposing a truce of sorts to deal with a greater threat. On one hand, there is indeed a threat at hand, but on the other, this person double-crossing you is just as likely an outcome. Do you agree to the meeting? Do you trust them?

There would be no question in Euphie's mind to agree to the meeting, regardless of risk. The threat they face is real and the betrayal is hypothetical, however likely. She would do everything she could to mitigate any fallout from the collapse of the alliance, but there can never hope for future peace without accepting olive branches from an opponent. As someone who cannot live without the hope of a better world, Euphie will always make the choice that allows for that possibility.

POWERS & ABILITIES:
As a regular human from an anime about politics, witches, and really big robots, Euphie boasts the following skills:
  • Moderate mech piloting skills
  • Full suite of skills gained through a privileged upbringing such as chess, fencing, art, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of firearms
  • Diplomacy and public speaking
  • Wilderness survival knowledge
SUITABILITY: Euphemia is a princess of a royal family that has literally colonized most of planet. She is witness to ongoing genocides, is both an acting politician and political activist, has been held hostage more than once, and only having to deal with city level violence and crime is actually a huge step up for her. She's also dealt with ongoing rumors that she shows favoritism to her Japanese romantic interest because of her womanly wiles and needs so sex isn't news either.

FACTION SUITABILITY:

The Shuten Clan

While far more rough and tumble than Euphie is accustomed to, she finds broadening her horizons both exciting and rewarding. The honesty of the Shuten Clan will appeal to her as it is also her preferred method of operation. Her siblings are used to lies and flexible truths, but she has always preferred the direct, transparent path and will utilize that to its fullest here.

Although raised as a princess and political figurehead, Euphie has never content to be window dressing. She's jumped out of windows, commandeered military vehicles, and shouldered the kickback on large automatic weapons. She would eagerly dive into training up physical strength and try to use her position within the Shuten Clan to influence the clan members to keep service to their community at top of mind.

The Tamamo Clan

More than once accused ot being a vixen herself, Euphie has been raised to use her poise and smile to help leverage what her family wants out of their dissidents and opponents. Freedom has always been so far from Euphie's reality that she's never much humored it. Even her fond wish to attend a normal school with friends was ultimately unattainable for her, and dreaming anything bigger than that was futile. She lived under the constant scrutiny and limitations of the political climate, unable to so much as breathe without thinking of the political ramifications.

Unfettered freedom would be a shock and a thrill. She would find the story of Tamamo-no-mae relatable and inspiring, as she has also always wanted love and acceptance to simply be her. She genuinely loves people, loves to know them, loves to help them, and would gladly spend her days making the world better in small, mundane ways.

The Sutoku Alliance

This arrangement is more or less what Euphie grew up in so she's no stranger to backroom dealings and subterfuge. It is not to her taste but she's familiar with the environment. She does agree, more or less, with the Sutoku Alliance's creed of competent and compassionate management of social infrastructure, but she is extremely mindful that those in power are often are tempted to misuse that power.

She's not as serious as her more politically-minded siblings, but she can keep up appearances as needed of her as she has done that most of her life. She also pushes boundaries, so she would use her position within the Alliance to try to start an agenda of building infrastructure to be responsible stewards of the people.

The Department of the Enma

As a child of a military-based monarchy, the strict discipline the Enma would require is not foreign to Euphie. She has spent a lot of time with and amongst soldiers and is used to their structure, creed, and methodology. None of this deters her, and order and structure are a comfort to her. She is someone who deeply believes there is order in an ideal world, it just doesn't look like the one that they have. She also believes in the infinite potential of working towards that order, and she does not believe in dismantling the status quo to build from scratch. Rather, she thinks the best way to build the future she wants to see is to enact change from within, and so she would happily operate within the system to steer it in a better, kinder direction.

She's also not above backhanding a man for mouthing off too much.
